ARF Member Says Government Program Aimed at Uniting Armenia’s

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Armenian Government’s program has a number of positive sides, especially emphasizing the mechanisms created for public participation and discourse in its processes, said Armenian Revolutionary Federation parliamentary faction member Ara Nranian during a press conference Thursday.
The ARF representative stressed the involvement of the expert specialists, noting that the government’s team includes people who are knowledgeable, intelligent and experienced.
"It’s a good start, and if things continue the way they have been, we can see positive results in the near future. The government has approved programs aimed at uniting the public," added Nranian.
Nevertheless, he added that the ARF had concerns, among them the government’s composition and its emphasis on the free-market economy, which could harm a significant sector of the population.
"The ARF has never separated economic issues from politics. The ARF has always been of the opinion that existing issues in the country cannot be resolved without a strong and sound economic potential," the ARF representative said.
Economist Andranik Tevanian agreed that the program of the government had its good sides. He emphasized the importance of formulating a timeline for the implementation of programs, critiquing that not all programs put forth by the government have an implementation timeline.
"In Armenia the political life has a quite serious economic pre-context and the economic life is quite politicized," added Tevanian.
Nranian also noted the importance of presenting issues within the proper context and in a comprehensive manner, in order to allow the appropriate discussion and ensure a beneficial resolution.
The newly appointed prime minister, according to the ARF representative, is ready to display serious approaches toward the existing issues and carry out necessary programs.
Tevanian also said there were obstacles in the implementation of the government’s program, particularly lack of public trust and absence of collective assessment. He said ensuring public trust in the authorities can result a more enhanced realization of programs.
