International Conference in Armenia to Mark Saroyan’s Centenary

YEREVAN (Armenpress)-The Armenian Ministry of Culture, the Bryusov Linguistic University in Yerevan and the Union of Armenian Writers will hold an international conference on October 6-10 dedicated the hundredth birthday of Famed Armenian-American writer and playwright William Saroyan.
2008 has been declared by UNESCO as "The Year of William Saroyan."
The goal of the conference will be to bring to light different aspects of Saroyan’s creative legacy from the perspective of reviewing it as a cultural value, the Ministry of Culture’s Press Office told Armenpress.
The conference will bring together experts from Armenia, the US, Europe and former Soviet republics to discuss Saroyan’s literary style, his aesthetics and other aspects of his talent.
The first two days of the five-day conference will be in Yerevan, after which participants will conclude the conference at the resort town of Tsakhkadzor.
