Foreign, Defense Ministers Attend NATO-Armenia Session

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Foreign and Defense Ministers participated in the 26 1 NATO session on Wednesday to discuss Armenia’s progress in implementing its Individual Partnership Action Plan Program (IPAP)with the US led Military Alliance.
During his speech, Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian underscored that the IPAP is a format of cooperation between Armenia and the Alliance and discussed with the ambassadors of the NATO member-countries Armenia’s cooperation with the EU.
Nalbandian also referred to the Karabakh Conflict settlement process and reconfirmed Armenia’s willingness to settle the conflict through peaceful negotiations.
He also noted Armenia’s readiness to normalize relations with Turkey without preconditions. The normalization or relations between the neighboring countries is one of the requiremen’s of the NATO IPAP.
In his speech, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan spoke of military reforms that were implemented to bring the Armenian army up-to-par with NATO standards.
According to various NATO member country ambassadors, Armenia has achieved the goals laid out in the IPAP according to the schedule. The ambassadors also expressed NATO’s readiness to continue supporting Armenia in the process of implementing its reforms.
Armenia’s NATO delegation also met Wednesday with NATO Deputy Secretary General Claudio Bizoniero.
