Armenian International Women’s Association to Hold Luncheon for Buenos Aires Conference

The Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA) of Los Angeles is holding a luncheon on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 11:30 a.m., inviting guests ‘To get into the Argentinian Spirit," for their 5th International Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, November 9 to 13, 2008.

The home of Krikor and Marilyn Bezdikian in Hancock Park will be the setting for guests to hear the exciting plans and preparations for the conference to be held at the Sheraton Libertador Hotel in the dynamic capital city of Buenos Aires. The conference is aptly titled: "Armenian Women Interacting in Worldwide Arenas."

"This will be first of several events to apprise women in the Armenian community of the stimulating speakers, programs and events that are being organized by the Conference Committee, Co-Chaired by Eva Medzorian in Boston and Lily Balian in Los Angeles," President of the Los Angeles AIWA, Diane Cabraloff, stated. "We are also thrilled to have the opportunity to explore the large, vibrant Armenian community in Argentina and to become acquainted with our sisters from throughout the world."

AIWA has had tremendous success in previous International Conferences held in London (1994), Paris (1997), Yerevan (2000), and Geneva (2004). Buenos Aires, on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, is a global, open hearted, metropolis–a place where tango, literature, good food, shopping, music, films, theatre, football and nightlife converge. A combination of European-style appeal and Latin feeling, the city has everything to offer its guests.

Proposals from speakers are still being accepted and individuals are cordially invited to submit papers or to suggest presenters and ideas for topics. The program will include sessions on Armenian women in politics, business, education, health, family life, culture, history and the arts. Please mail proposals to AIWA, Attention: Barbara Merguerian, 65 Main Street, #3A, Watertown, MA 02472.
