Armenian Student Wins 1st Place in Congressional Art Competition

TEHACHAPI, Calif.–Sandine Mamigonian, a senior at Tehachapi High School, won 1st place in a Congressional art competition sponsored by Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Mamigonian’s work “Me Collage” won 1st place in the Art Medium category at the 27th annual “An Artistic Discovery” Congressional Art Competition, which took place last month at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

The pen drawing was among 38 entries submitted for consideration from high school students throughout the 22nd Congressional District.

“I am encouraged by the artistic talents of the school students in the 22nd Congressional District,” said McCarthy. “I was extremely pleased to hold this reception so our communities could see the high-quality artwork of our youth and recognize all our winners for their hard work and creative eye.”

The drawing will be displayed in McCarthy’s Washington Congressional office for one year.
