Golden Apricot Film Festival to Honor Famed Filmmakers

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Yerevan’s “Golden Apricot” Film Festival will honor the Chairman of the European Film Academy Vim Venders and Iranian film titan Daryush Mehrju with the “Golden Apricot” award during this year’s film festival.

According to festival director Harutyun Khactrian, Venders, will be in Yerevan for eight to nine days to attend the festival and conduct a series of lectures on film.

Venders, who is a famed German film director, will also discuss Khachtrian a number of his Armenian projects during his visit.

Mehrju, who according to Khachatrian “opened the closed doors of the Iranian film”, will chair the jury that will judge the festival’s feature films.

Among the other honorable guests attending the festival are: distinguished French director Katrin Briya, and Austrian director Ulrich Zald who will head the jury that will judge documentary films.
