30,000 Spectators Expected at Homenetmen’s 33rd Annual Navasartian Games

BIRMINGHAM–The temperatures are rising and so are the stakes at Homenetmen’s 33rd Annual Navasartian games, as the divisional races pick up pace with teams starting to rise well above the heat.

Homenetmen, the premiere Armenian American Athletic non-profit organization, hosts annual summer Olympics games every 4th of July weekend for today’s Armenian youth. The games are an important part of Homenetmen’s mission to elevate members by imparting valuable life lessons that transcend athletics, helping grow each of them into confident and strong individuals who can be highly successful in their community and personal lives.

The 33rd Annual Navasartian Games, which attract over 4000 athletes, began on April 27th, 2008 and will enter their final stretch on Thursday, July 3rd when athletes from 17 different chapters make their way to Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, CA for the Final Four Days of Games and the highly anticipated Navasartian Festival.

The final days of competition include semi-final and final rounds for the following events: Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Swimming, Track & Field, Table Tennis and Chess.

The Weekend festivities kick off on Thursday night with a performance by one of today’s most popular, cross-generational entertainers ‘s Karnig Sarkissian ‘s and will be accompanied by a special fireworks display.

Festival attractions include:

* Children’s Corner
* Community Organization Booths

The final salute to the Navasartian Games & Festival will culminate on Sunday, July 6th with the closing ceremonies at 4 pm followed by the closing night of the festival.
