YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian National Security Service agents arrested two ranking police officers from the Kotayk police department Monday on charges of bribery and extortion.
The two men, Sevak Khachatrian, a captain in the investigative division of the Kotayk police department and Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Papian, the head of the division, were arrested after Khachatrian took a $5,000 bribe from a citizen in return for softening the sentence given to his son for committing a criminal offence. According to the NSS, Papian knew of the bribe.
A criminal case has been launched into the matter.
