YEREVAN (Yerkir)–More than 350 Armenian Revolutionary Federation Junior organization members from 11 countries converged on Armenia to kick off a jamboree entitled "Armenia is My Homeland. My Future."
The opening ceremonies were held Friday at the Dzidzernagapert Memorial Monument. The participants have already visited the Yerablour national cemetery, Sardarabad, Armenian National Museum, the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute, toured Yerevan and met with His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenia’s at Etchmiadzin. They will also be visiting Garni, Geghart and Sevan, among other sites in Armenia.
The jamboree, which concludes on July 25, is aimed at creating a tie between Armenia and Armenian youth living in the Diaspora.
"The goal of the Jamboree is to create a precedent for young Armenia’s to visit the homeland and create ties with Armenia. The trip goes beyond visiting historical monumen’s allows the participants to become acquainted with the every-day life of Armenia, especially the people of Armenia," said jamboree director Mher Karakashian.
"We hope that in the future the participants will strengthen their ties with the homeland. And, why not, maybe even become citizens of Armenia," added Karakashian.
Aside from visiting various sites, the participants are also engaged in group activities aimed at acquainting themselves with the ARF Junior organization in different countries.
