Speaker Donates 3 Million AMD to Children of Artsakh Veterans Program

YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–National Assembly Speaker Tigran Torosyan made a donation of 3 million drams from the National Assembly Speaker’s fund to the "Hayastan" All-Armenian Fund on Wednesday. The donation will benefit the "Assistance to the Children of deceased and First Degree Invalid Soldiers of Armenia and Artsakh project." The money will cover one month of benefits to the program.

In his letter to the Hayastan Fund’s Acting Executive Director Ara Vardanyan, Torosyan said that the "efficient implementation of this project is everyone’s duty as well as the States."

"The Assistance to the Children of deceased and First Degree Invalid Soldiers of Armenia and Artsakh project" has been providing relief for the children of Artsakh veterans for 13 years. Paymen’s are made mainly through the interests generated from twelve endowment funds within Hayastan Fund, as well as yearly contributions by Izmirlian Foundation, Hayastan Fund’s Great Britain, Austrian and French local committees and other sources.

Donations from VivaCell mobile operator and Moscow-based Professor Yuri Barseghov, who provided the monetary award of his Prize to the Hayastan Fund, were also directed to this project.

Vardanyan has sent letters to the project beneficiaries: Haypost kindly agreed to provide the service with for fee. In his letter Vardanyan expressed gratitude to the donors noted "it is essential that apart from the financial support Armenia Fund provides a feeling of appreciation to the families of the freedom fighters."

"In this respect Torosyan’s contribution is highly appreciated," he said.
