ADAA 3rd Annual Celebrity Gala Announced

The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance Annual Celebrity Gala will be held on Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Stars Palace Theater in Glendale. With a lavish catered dinner, silent auction of high-end entertainment memorabilia and live performances, the Gala will welcome hundreds from the film and theater industries, as well as leaders among the Armenian and American communities. This event is being sponsored by Coppola Wines and Final Draft.

The Gala will feature performed excerpts of the finalist plays from the 2008 William Saroyan Prize for Playwriting, in honor of Saroyan’s centennial year. The $10,000 grand prize winner of the Saroyan competition will also be announced. The three finalists are: Kristen Lazarian’s Flesh and Tenderness, Matthew Yaldezian’s The Living and the Dead and Lily Thomasian’s Nadia.

In addition, the ADAA is delighted to announce that Michael Peretzian will be the recipient of the second annual Armenian Star Award, presented at our Annual Gala to an individual who has made a significant impact on Armenian arts in 2008. Peretzian has worked as a literary agent in the entertainment industry for 30 years, representing Academy-Award-winning writers, and has recently received widespread acclaim as the director of the play, Red Dog Howls.
