Iran-Armenia Pipeline to Finish Ahead of Schedule

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–All efforts are being made to complete the Iran-Armenia natural gas pipeline at the end of the year, ahead of schedule, Armenian Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisian told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday.

The pipeline was scheduled for completion at the beginning of 2009. In February 2008 the "ArmRusgasard" company restarted construction of the pipeline’s Kajaran-Ararat sector, which had been put on hold because of bad weather conditions. Construction is currently being carried out on the Kajaran-Sisian and Sisian-Jermuk-Ararat sectors.

Construction of the Kajaran-Jermuk-Ararat gas pipeline is expected to finish by fall 2008. The completed "Kajaran-Ararat gas pipeline which will be 204.51 km in length, will allow Armenia to diversify its natural gas supplies.
