Tourism Up in Karabakh

STEPANAKERT (Armenpress)-The number of tourists to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic rose by 10% this summer, up from last year’s figures, reported the Karabakh Foreign Ministry’s Consular Service.

According to the Consular Service, the majority of tourists visiting Karabakh in the first half of the year were from Russia, the US, France, Germany, Iran, Poland, Japan, Belgium, Greece, Canada and many other countries. The busiest time for tourism in Karabakh is between May and October.

It said also that non-Armenian tourists visit Karabakh.

Tourists have begun visiting Karabakh from countries such as Chile, Uruguay, Singapore, India, and South Korea.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Government has said it considers as a priority the expansion of its tourist industry, which has already begun to grow. Nagorno-Karabakh currently has over a dozen modern hotels operating year round.
