Hamazkayin Elects New Regional Executive

GLENDALE–The Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Association held its 15th regional convention last weekend, with a special opening banquet taking place at the Armenian Relief Soceity Regional headquarters on Friday, February 20.

At the conclusion of the three-day convention, the meeting elected a new regional executive helmed by Dr. Viken Yacoubian. Joining him on the body are Dr. Dikran Babikian, Anita Havatian, Manishag Markarian, Ohan Ohanian, Lucy Choukhadjian, Dzovinar Ghazarian-Melkonian, Mirna Douzjian-Der Ohanessian and Viken Haboyan.

Among the attendees of the opening banquet were Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Armenia’s Consul Genera to Armenia Grigor Hovhannissian, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau member Dr. Viken Hovsepian, ARF Western US Central Committee representative Seto Boyajian, Hamazkayin Central Executive member Vahe Jamagordzian, Hamazkayin Eastern US Regional Executive chairman Zeyrmayr Setrakian, ARS Western Regional Executive Vice-Chairwoman Sossy Poladian, Homenetmen Regional Executive member Vartan Khalatian, Armenian Weekly Editor Khatchig Mouradian, Canada’s Horizon Weekly Editor Vahagn Karakashian, Asbarez Armenian Editor Apo Boghigian and the entire Hamazkayin Western Regional Executive.

Presentations were made highlighting the important role the Hamazkayin plays in the advancement of Armenian culture and education and through its mission impacting generations of Armenia’s.

During the two-day convention, 24 delegates were joined by guests to assess the activities of the outgoing regional executive and chart the course for future activities and elected the aforementioned regional executive.
