MOSCOW (ArmInfo)—Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will make an official visit to Armenia in the near future, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan told reporters Tuesday following an economic conference in Moscow.

The exact terms and agenda of Putin’s visit will be determined at the diplomatic level in the coming weeks, Sargsyan said. “It’s not a secret that we live in a rapidly changing environment. Due to the global financial and economic crisis, we become witnesses to unexpected and unpredictable events. So, the day of the visit of the Russian premier cannot be specified so far,” he said.

Sargsyan was in Russia attending a meeting of the Countries from the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) that set out to create of a fund to combat the ongoing global financial crisis. Armenia is an observer state of EurAsEC.

He led a delegation composed of the ministers of finance and natural resources, as well as the deputy foreign minister, the head of government administration, and the deputy minister of natural resources.

Putin had accepted an invitation to visit Armenia during a meeting with Sargsyan late in February when he was in Moscow on a one-day working visit focusing on economic issues and Russia’s promised anti-crisis assistance to Armenia. The visit was initially planned for May.
