GLENDALE—On Thursday, August 27 at 7pm, Arpa Foundation for Film, Music, and Art (AFFMA) will be hosting an industry networking event. Actors, musicians, filmmakers and AFFMA patrons will have the opportunity to meet and mingle at Katsuya, located at the Americana (701 Americana Way, Glendale, CA 91210). Tickets to the mixer are $20 online and can be purchased at www.AFFMA.org .
AFFMA is offering a limited number of complimentary tickets to the networking mixer with the purchase of an ALL-ACCESS pass to the 12th Annual Arpa International Film Festival. The pass includes all festival events including screenings, receptions, opening and closing night events.
The festival will be held Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25 at the legendary Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Arpa will be screening the US premier of Haik Gazarian’s “VENEZZIA” starring two of Latin America’s greatest stars, Alfonso Herrera and Ruddy Rodriguez.
More than 50 feature films, shorts, documentaries, music videos and animations will bescreened during the festival, including films from Armenia, Turkey, France, Iran, Spain, Lebanon, England, Israel, Palestine, and Germany. Films by such organizations as Armenian Educational Foundation will be featured along side films starring Olympia Dukakis (“Hove” by Alex Webb) and Sting (“Battle for Xingu”).
This year, AT&T will present that Arpa/AT&T Award for Environmental Conservation and Stewardship at the 2009 Arpa Awards Gala and Reception, which will be hosted by the Hollyscoop Girls. The star-studded, red carpet event will be attended by stars of this year’s films, as well as celebrities from the Hollywood community. Past attendees include such luminaries as Atom Egoyan, Alanis Morissette, Frances Fisher, Shoreh Aghdashloo, Dean Cain, Vivica A. Fox, and Arsinee Khanjian. Stars will be in attendance to present awards to filmmakers, and to the recipients of the prestigious Armin T. Wegner Award, Arpa Career Achievement and Arpa Foundation Awards.
