Turkish Ambassador to Russia Echoes Demands for Karabakh Concessions

pic57055MOSCOW (Today.az)—Turkey’s ambassador to Russia, in an interview with the Russian Vesti-24 TV station on Friday, reiterated Turkish demands for Armenia to concede liberated territories from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to Azerbaijan in the Karabakh peace process.

“Resolution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories are imperative,” said ambassador , adding that Turkey has always made this demand.

In elaborating Turkey’s position, the ambassador also stressed that the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey are directly contingent on Armenia’s acceptance of a resolution to the Karabakh conflict favoring Azerbaijan.

“Armenia must necessarily normalize relations with Azerbaijan in order to establish and develop relations with Turkey since Azerbaijanis and Turkish people are one nation, living in two different states and speaking the same language,” Akinji said.
