Glendale Opens Evacuation Center

GLENDALE–City officials announced Wednesday that an evacuation center has been opened for those residents who are under evacuation orders.  The City, in coordination with the American Red Cross, has opened the Glendale Civic Auditorium located at 1401 North Verdugo Road.

The City this morning implemented mandatory evacuations in designated areas.  A listing of the mandatory evacuation areas is posted on the City’s website at www.ci.glendale.ca and its Government Access channel, GTV6.

Residents who are being asked to evacuate were contacted Tuesday evening through the City’s mass phone system. City staff members today are going door to door informing residents of the mandatory order.

Glendale Police have put up road barricades in the Glenoaks Canyon area (Freeway Fire burn area).  Street barricades will soon go up in the north Glendale area (Station Fire area).  Residents who may have questions about the evacuations can call the City’s Emergency Information Center at 818-548-3301.
