Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian with US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg

YEREVA (RFE/RL)–U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg reportedly assured president Serzh Sarkisian on Thursday that the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations is “very important” for the United States.

Steinberg met with Sarkisian and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian during a one-day visit to Yerevan. The U.S.-backed efforts to improve Turkish-Armenian relations were high on the agenda of his talks.

“He reaffirmed that the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations is very important for the United States and that the USA is ready to continue its assistance to the process,” Sarkisian’s press office said in a statement.

The statement said Steinberg praised the Armenian leadership’s commitment to the normalization of Turkish-Armenian normalization and stood by Washington’s view that a relevant ruling handed down last month by Armenia’s Constitutional Court was a step in the right direction. Sarkisian, for his part, was quoted as welcoming Washington’s “balanced position” on this and other “multilateral” issues.

The statement added that the two men also discussed the current state of U.S.-Armenian relations and noted their “dynamic development” in various spheres, including security. Sarkisian hailed in that regard a sharp increase bilateral trade registered last year. “The USA has become our fifth most important trading partner,” he said.

This chair has seen so many ….! For chair, there is no difference what the face and rank of sitter is.
Did James cleaned his shoes, put nice tie? Is not all this violation of a diplomatic protocol? Turkish ambassador leaves Israel because of this kind of demonstration of disrespect.
Serj, even if barak sits in this chair, remember they come and go. They promised to set peace-keepers to body-guard you? From whom? Your people, your memory, you past and future. Does not worth!

Yeah our Armenia and Armenians look good USA, and don’t you forget it.  But leave Armenia alone now.  Get your long nose out of Armenia’s affairs.  Armenia can do very well with her Iranian and Georgian borders; we don’t need the Turkish borders.

    LEAVE ARMENIA ALONE U.S.A.

Now that we have the U.S. on our side Turkey has no choice but to ratify the protocols and become allies with Armenia.

For God’s sake, if you’re going to be the representative of a world superpower, dress the part. Somebody get Mr. Steinberg a decent pair of shoes! Those things look like something straight out of “A Christmas Carol”, Steinberg stole “little timmy’s” serf shoes! 14 Trillion dollar GDP and the guy shows up as a foreign dignitary dressed as a pauper. And what’s with the “pock-a-dot” tie?!

     P.S.
Nothing, until the USA State Department, Hilary, et al, stop  denying the endless/on-going
non-recognition of the Turkish Genocide of the Armenian Nation – in the Halls of Congress.
This stance of the USA government’s agencies comes across as being in agreement with the
Genocides policies of  a Turkey.  That the USA allows Genocides, anywhere, by anyone, into the 21st century is obscene – and supporting a nation who commits Genocides does not bode well…
The State Department has used this ploy – and enough is enough.  Recognition of the Turkish
Genocide of the Armenian nation!   Too, stop the arm-twisting for the proPROTOCOLS!
Armenian is a fledgling nation, inexperienced in the shenanigans of Washington… whereas the Turk bullies it way in Washington.  Manooshag
