YEREVAN (Combined Sources)—An Armenian soldier was fatally shot Tuesday during a skirmish with Azeri soldiers on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan border near the Chinari village, Armenia’s Defense Ministry reported.
“On Monday the enemy committed another ceasefire violation. One serviceman was killed as a result,” the ministry said in a statement, naming him as 29-year-old junior sergeant Sarkis Voskanyan.
Reportedly, Voskanyan was shot in the head.
There was no immediate comment from Azerbaijani officials
This is the price we are paying now after 16 years for not pushing hard in 1994 to bring Azeri administration to their knees to sign on the independence of Karabagh. Our forces were poised to capture Gandzak (Kirovabad) at that time. The incompetence of Levon Der-Petrossian resulted into signing a ceasefire with an open road to be defeated politically down the line, when we were victorious on the battleground.
How many of such young men should lose their lives, buried in Yerabloor or in their native village cemeteries, and have their fiances mourn and look at their engagement rings with deep sorrow and devastated lives. Where are the followers of Zoravar Andranik and Zoravar Dro to rise and put an end to this chapter properly.
you guys just dreamers, go all the way to girovabad?!!! and baku?! who is gonna let us do that?! guys has no clue how the wolrd run, and who run it and why ?!
You are absolutely right Vacheh, we should have gone all the way to Baku. Now the animals are at it again, threatening war, next time we WILL go all the way to Baku and Aliyev will have to negotiate a deal to get his lands back in one piece instead of mouth off about “we have oil this, and we have oil that”. Long live Arstakh (Formely known as Nagorno-Karabagh) and long live Armenia!
May the hero Sarkis Voskanyan rest in peace.
Levon Der-Betrossian wished to give away Karabagh. He is a defeatist un-patriotic soul. Armenia should have thought twice, three times and more before having elected him. Never mind that they tried to elect him again in 2008. I don’t know where their minds were.
Vacheh you are right. He should have never signed a ceasefire when indeed we won the war. Armenia should have brought those Azeris to their knees and had them sign on the independence of Karabagh.
its clear why you exactly hate former presidnet levon! but you odnt know that this man put the faundations and establish the independence in its early and hardest and most cricial moments!!!!!!! you dont know what the heck you are talking about, and have no clue about politics nad how and when to listen to who gives the orders and how to obay, meaningly supper powers and influantial nations and interantional leaglities!!!! abviously you are a Hryer Maroukhian and co follower.
