Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Representatives Judge Chamlian Science Fair

GLENDALE—The morning of March 5 was an exciting one for Chamlian students who have spent months preparing for the annual Science Fair. Chamlian students have regularly received awards and honorable mentions at the LA County level as well as the state level competitions. The installation of the Smart Board in the Science classroom is the latest example of the school’s commitment to a strong science program.

Each year, a panel of prestigious judges critique each entry and make a decision on which projects will move on to the next level at the Los Angeles County competition. This year, Chamlian was pleased to welcome representatives from the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry as part of the panel of judges for the competition. Vergine Madelian, Ph.D. and Stella Baghdasarian D.D.S. from the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry were joined by Richard Moyer, Ph.D., Project Manager at Northrop Grumman, Hagop Injeyan, Ph.D. CSULA Faculty, and Narine Arabyan, Microbiology Graduate Student at CSUN to lend their expertise in reviewing the projects.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry is a foundation dedicated to recruiting and providing compatible donors for patients who are suffering from life-threatening blood diseases and leukemia. This organization is having a vital impact on the Armenian community both locally and globally.

The science fair submissions this year fulfilled the legacy of excellence that Chamlian has come to expect. After careful deliberation, the judges chose thirteen projects among the twenty four finalists to send to the competition at the county level. Congratulations to the finalists. We wish them the best of luck at the next level.
