GLENDALE—Chamlian Armenian School remains ahead of the technological curve and strives to deliver the latest cutting-edge technology to the students. Almost every instructor at Chamlian currently has a laptop in the classroom, and homework and grades as well as timely messages are delivered to parents via electronic communication on a daily basis.
Chamlian recognizes that technology is constantly changing. Chamlian is currently offering an after-school training program to keep teachers up to date with the latest technology. Teachers are encouraged to keep their technology skills sharp and to effectively incorporate technology into the curriculum.
Computer science teacher, Andre Agazaryan, is leading the course that meets twice a week over a five week period. “It is extremely important that we show teachers all aspects of the technologies they have,” said Agazaryan. “It’s not enough to say here is the technology, go use it. We are showing them how to use technology more effectively to better the learning environment for the students.”
The feedback from the teachers has been overwhelmingly positive. Chamlian will consider offering similar classes in the future for more advanced topics.
