GLENDALE—Each year, Armenian schools throughout southern California compete in the KAHAM Games. The KAHAM Games cover an array of sporting events including soccer, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and track and field. First through third place trophies are awarded in each category, and the school that accumulates the most points across all events earns the first place trophy.
For the second year in a row, Chamlian Armenian School has received the first place trophy after delivering phenomenal performances in both individual and group sporting events. The Chamlian Tigers earned a total of 18 team trophies and 90 individual metals, excluding the soccer results, which will be announced at a later date.
Coach Irene Nikoghossian and Coach Vasag Sherbetdjian oversee Chamlian’s physical education and sports program. Every day, after-school, teams of students were coached by Chamlian alumni and parents working hard for weeks leading up to the KAHAM Games. All of their hard work paid off at the recognition ceremony on Sunday, March 15th, when the first place trophy was presented to Chamlian. “We are extremely proud of our student’s commitment to delivering outstanding performances,” said Principal Vazken Madenlian. “Our students have shown that they can work hard to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.”
