YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–A member of Armenia’s parliament and longtime advocate for the beleaguered Armenians of Georgia called on Armenia’s business leaders to begin investing serious capital in “solving the social and economic problems” of Javakhk.
Tachat Vardapetyan, who heads the Unity of Armenians of Georgia non-profit, spoke to reporters in Yerevan on Saturday where he underscored the “myriad of social, economic educational and cultural problems” facing the Armenians of Javakhk.
Vartapetyan said he believed the issues plaguing Javakhk and her population should be solved through inter-state dialogue. He said the problems required Armenia to take on a more active role in the socio-economic life of Javakhk by “developing Armenian-Georgian dialogue and strengthening of diplomatic relations.”
“Javakhk should become a bridge between Armenia and Georgia. We suppose that the Georgian authorities should soften their policy in the region in a way that will be favorable for further development of Armenian-Georgian relations,” said Vardapetyan.
“Our state bodies should cooperate with the Georgian representatives in the spheres where we have problems in Javakhk, we should also promote Armenian-Georgian parliamentary diplomacy,” he added.

Excellent idea. It is left up to SPURK to work in this direction. The oligopoly in Armenia cannot be trusted.
