GLENDALE, CA –The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) is pleased to welcome Mike Gatto as the newly elected Assemblymember for the 43rd State Assembly District. Gatto will represent the largest concentration of Armenian Americans in the nation and will fill the seat vacated by former California State Assemblyman Paul Krekorian until the November 2010 General Election.
“We welcome Mike Gatto as our new representative in Sacramento,” stated ANCA-WR Board member Stepan Boyajian. “We look forward to working with him in the remaining months of the term to address issues of concern to the Armenian American community in the 43rd Assembly District.”
Assemblymember-elect Gatto will be representing the constituents of the 43rd Assembly district in Sacramento. There are many pressing issues before Californians in the months ahead and the ANCA-WR applauds Assemblymember-elect Mike Gatto for his efforts to engage Armenian American constituents on those issues. Gatto has worked closely with the ANCA-WR and the Armenian American community throughout his campaign and the ANCA-WR welcomes a continuation of that relationship in the coming months.
“We congratulate both candidates on a hard fought election and for engaging the Armenian American community throughout the course of their campaigns,” stated ANCA-WR Government Relations Director Lerna Shirinian.
The ANCA-WR issued an open endorsement for the 43rd Assembly District (43rd AD) Special Election Runoff Election, endorsing both candidates – Republican candidate Sunder Ramani and Democratic candidate Mike Gatto – for the Special Election runoff Election. June 8th also serves as a primary election for this seat for the November General Election. The ANCA-WR has not taken a position at this time with regard to the November elections.
