Attack on Karabakh a ‘Message’ to the World, Says Azeri Foreign Minister

BAKU (News.az)–The recent Azerbaijani attack on a security outpost in Karabakh that left four Armenian soldiers dead is a “message to the entire world” that such attacks will continue until Baku regains control over Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov warned on Wednesday.

Mammadyarov’s remarks come less than a week after Azeri forces on June 18 launched an attack on positions in Mardakert, killing four Karabakh soldiers and wounding as many one day after an Armenian and Azeri presidential summit on Nagorno-Karabakh in St. Petersburg, mediated by Russia. The skirmishes continued throughout the weekend, with Azeri forces violated the cease fire regime some 284 times.

The incident occurred amid heightened tension in the region as Official Baku, frustrated with the Karabakh peace process, steps up its threats to invade the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

“Some, including Armenia, accuse Azerbaijan of bellicose rhetoric, but this rhetoric will not end before the settlement of the conflict,” Mammadyarov told a joint press conference with Austrian counterpart Michael Spindelegger in Baku on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev, on Wednesday told an annual session of the Islamic Development Bank that he expected to gain control over Karabakh soon.

The fledgling state, sandwiched between Armenia and Azerbaijan, declared its independence from the crumbling Soviet Union in 1991. The move, hailed as the Soviet Union’s first genuine democratic movement, was met with violence as Azerbaijan invaded the young republic, sparking a devastating war that lasted until 1994.

The region, a historic province of Armenia, was placed under the jurisdiction of the Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan in the 1920s as part of a deal between Russia and Turkey that paved the way for the Sovietization of the Caucasus.

Despite that, Aliyev maintained that “Karabakh is ancient Azerbaijani land” and added that he did” not doubt that it would be liberated.”

If open war breaks out,how long would it be before Turkish forces were involved?Would the UN disapprove? What would the US responce be?Military planners have to consider these details before “just attacking”.As far as a “message to the world” crap is concerned, this wasn’t even mentioned on the BBC news hour muchless FOX or CNN.Western media doesn’t see this “little conflict” as a news story. Now Rolling Stone, thats where we need to be.Oh wait System of a Down was in RS. Point is Americans in general don’t care. Obama is going to spend political capital on Armenia muchless economic or military support. To be fair, war is inevitable when it comes to Azerbaijan and Aliyev. However, although everyone is saying we should go, this is not right. If your going to say it, then you better be fighting as well. Because it will be those men in Artsakh and Armenia who will be fighting.

We should ALL fight for our Hayastan and Artsakh. We showed them 20 years ago, and we’ll show them again, now with a stronger army than before.

We must all be ready of what is to come mentally and physically, so be prepared!!!!

but turkey knows better than that not to try any thing stupid and get caught between rock and a hard place than again if that happens of course kurds will attack them from Iraq and turkey bottom line is a major war will brak out but i think that will not happen and we will win the war and azerbejan will loose like last time.

In the next summit meeting, the SOB Aliyev should be made to confess giving orders for the border aggression, for violating the cease-fire agreement, and for making a mockery of the peace process whenever things don’t go his way. He then should be hand-cuffed and taken away to face justice.

While he is sitting in jail making license plates, he should be forced to surrender his foreign minister and the minister be handed over to the families of the four dead Armenian soldiers. The families of the four dead Armenian soldiers should reply to the Azeri foreign minister’s “message” to the world by putting 4 bullets in his head, one for each Armenian soldier killed.

Armenia should bring a Karabagh official to the next round of talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia and insist that he take part. When Azerbaijan refuses, Armenia should walk out and let Azerbaijan talk to itself and the OSCE.

Say, how about a “flotilla” of human rights activists try to run the Turkish blockade by crossing into Armenia from Turkey to see what happens? Turkey would gun down every one of them without question, and the world would say nothing about Turkish barbarism, whereas when Turks get killed trying to run the Gaza blockade, the whole world seems to mourn the Turks. Double standard?

Guys, have you been reading about what is going on in Azerbaijan? Supposedly U.S. and Israeli forces are massing troops in Azerbaijan for a possible strike on Iran. Google it and see. I am starting to get real worried because with Russian and Azerbaijan agreeing on a huge gas deal and this build up of forces in Azerbaijan, I am beginning to see why Aliyev is pushing for war. I have a bad feeling that Russia would throw us to the wolves, and Azerbaijan would have military help from the U.S. and Israel. It would be a nightmare scenario, but it is possible. I don’t see how we would survive if Russia abandons us. Pray for Armenia.

serop pasha jan, i wish you were right but im afraid your SO wrong. First, it’s ARMENIA that’s in the CSTO- NOT KARABAKH !! So no, the CSTO will NOT help armenia if another karabakh war breaks out. Secondly, and honestly…do you really think uzbeks, russians, kazakhs, belarus, etc. would come to aid even if ARMENIA was in the battle with AZERIS ? Your way too naieve to believe that. It’s all a show-when the shit hits the fan-there will be no russia-or any friends for that matter. Throughout history, everyone has either promised us safety and abandoned us (france, england, usa etc.) or helped turks/azeris (russia/ussr, israel, etc.) The only country in the world that does not want to help azeris or turks would be IRAN ! They will never want turkey to join azerbaijan-therefore it”s IRAN that armenia needs the most-but they knew that and thats why they will try to kill 2 birds with one stone. Armenia and Iran. The future looks so bad-but all i know is this time there wont be any monte melkonian’s and my heart shatters at that thought.

Here are a few things WE DIASPORA armenians should DO
In case the turks attack us we must be ready to take the war EVERYWHERE. No turk or azeri should feel safe in any country in the world. Yes! we are dispersed in small communities, but we must use that to our advantage!
Secondly, it high time we gave a helping hand to the the minorities living in Adrbadkan (Azerbaijan), namely the Lezgins in the north and the Talish in the south.
Thirdly let’s increase our assistance to Armenia nad Artskah. Let’s double, triple the money we gather during our telethons. Let 100,000 diasporans visit Artsakh this year. Me personally, I’m going with my family to Martakert for my vacations this summer. See you there!

Armenians all over the world should make people and governments in the countries they live care about what is happening in Artsakh and Armenia. How dare CNN, BBC or any other news agency not report about it? How dare the government officials not issue statements like they did with Turkey’s ‘flotilla’? What are we, Armenians, doing all this time? We should bombard them with emails, petitions, calls, they cannot ignore us. That’s what Diaspora is supposed to do!!!!!!!

    • john papazian said:

In the first place they, maistream media, does not have any moral obligation to report on anything.Second patriotism only works for the country your in.Third,at least we will be on the side of Christ when this worlds evil is judged. We all have the same problems living outside of our motherland, i am not blaming anyone, i am just saying, that thats where we should target. You are right, they dont have the obligation, they we need to make them want to report. In addition to what i have said, its your responsibility as an Armenian to educate them about Armenia.I live in a country where they have a avenue called Armenia with Armenian schools and churches and still get question whether Armenians are Christians. Thats my opinion

Dear Hagop I will personally drop everything, leave my job and go to Artsakh if Azerbaijan attacks in full force. I believe there will be a lot of diasporas like me. We will be a hidden Army no one had counted on. I wish there would be financial support from other diasporas to arm us. A Diasporan army financed by Diasporans would shake Azerbaijan from it’s roots.

  29. Eddy (the fruit of protocols) said:

The authorities’ in Baku have set themselves a certain deadline /time limit. This has much to do with the two well know protocols and enmity of US/Israel with Iran … Turkey got with two protocols, what she wanted. Now Baku is expecting from Yerevan the same approach in regard to NKR (RA has sent a wrong signal!) … Turkey likes to ratify the two protocols before any (unexpected) discussion about Armenian Genocide by US administration or US Congress. Therefore Ankara and above all Baku needs pro AZ progress in the “peace process”. Baku is apparently afraid Turkey would be forced to ratify protocols and open borders, not being able for extension of the term and giving Baku more time….Baku is in hurry and Ankara doesn’t´ want to risk to nullify the valuable protocols … The best would be to keep the status quo around NKR!

I think we should use this incident to our advantage. We should immediately start a compain of recognition of Artsakh’s independence by other countries. We should write a letters saying that azerbaijan is continuing to ignore Artsakh’s right for self determination and wants to start a war and ethnic cleansing once again. The only way to stop this now is to recognize Artsakhs independence.

According to official statistics, the population of the Republic of Armenian now stands at 3.2 million. It comes as a surprise to no one that this figure is inflated. Even the RoA Migration Agency, based on conducted studies, confirms that during the past twenty years from 700,000 to 1.3 million people have left Armenia for good (advancing the number of 700,000 evidently serves the country’s authorities’ to continue claiming a current population level of 3.2 million; the number of 1.3 million is closer to reality)

Based on current official numbers, certain international studies predict that by 2050 Armenia will have a population of 2,334,000. This is a 27-28% drop when compared to the contrived 3.2 million of today. In reality, if current trends continue, one can predict that in forty years, the rate of depopulation will be much higher. Without exaggeration, if current trends continue, one can predict that the population on this territory will be less than one million souls. This would constitute the final stage of the demise of the Armenian state and the Armenian people.

According to various predictions, Turkey’s population will exceed 100 million by 2050 ( even though 20-35% being Kurds). Iran’s population will top 100 million of which 30-40% will be Azeris living in the proximity of Armenia. By 2050, Azerbaijan is expected to have a population of 10-12 million. In reality this figure might be construed as inflated, because demographic statistics in Azerbaijan, just as in Armenia and Georgia, are highly suspect. Taking the entire picture into account, however, this cannot be seen as any consolation. In the end, the demographic picture of neighboring Georgia in the long-term is just as bleak as Armenia.

According to world statistics primitive Moslem population, Turkish Mongol mutts in particular, have no concept of family planning and reproduce like wild dogs produce litter. On the average, they have less than 3rd grade education with annual income equal to feeding 2 pigs. By the year 2050 more than 50% of these illiterate useless populations will move into various European countries giving birth to anchor babies, becoming 2nd class citizens in their own filthy ghettos, draining the resources of their host countries while living on welfare.

Also according to world predictions, Armenia, an ancient country with kingdoms going as far back as 3000 years, despite countless wars and Genocide, is once again on the rise. This ancient country not only outlasted all the ancient kingdoms of its previous era but it has also become a modern day thorn in the eyes of the genocidal Turkish Mongol mutts which occupy its historic territories in Asia Minor a.k.a. present day Anatolia. While this ancient kingdom, modern republic, was creating literature, arts and music, their Turkish Mongoloid occupiers were grazing goats in Central Asia and the Far East.

It is estimated well before the year 2050 this proud, tenacious, resilient, brave nation will acquire nuclear weapons and settle the score with the Turkish horde once and for all by wiping them off the face of the earth.
