ANC Burbank Announces New Team at Successful Kickoff Event

BURBANK, Calif.–The Armenian National Committee of Burbank (ANCB) announced its new team of activists and plan of activities with a town-hall styled gathering with new and current members at Woodbury University On Friday, October 8.

The event, which was an opportunity to introduce the organization to new recruits and activists, included remarks from keynote speaker, Rosdom Sarkissian from the ANCA Western Region.

The evening’s program was, meanwhile, emceed by Garen Yegparian, who spoke about the previous years’ accomplishments, including the largest Armenian voter registration drive in the history of the City of Burbank, a successful U.S. Census awareness campaign, and various other bright spots from earlier years of activity.

In particular, Yegparian acknowledged the establishment of the ANC-Burbank “April 24th Armenian Genocide-Rebirth Humanitarian Scholarship,” the first of its kind at Woodbury University, and thanked the major donor, Glendale Memorial Hospital.

The new committees, their projects, and their chairs were introduced. The Armenian Christmas Reception will be spearheaded by Ara Boyadjian, Communications and Data will be managed by Nanneh Chehras, Events will be coordinated by Annette Kargodorian, Genocide Information and April 24 Activity will be lead by Jaklin Khodabakhsh and Political and Electoral activities will be chaired by Armond Aghakhanian.

“I’m pleased with the new recruits we’ve gotten from this kickoff. I expect they’ll be great additions to our group of activists,” Nanneh Chehras who coordinated the event’s planning remarked.

The Armenian National Committee of Burbank advances the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the area’s Armenian community and promotes increased civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.
