Armenian American Celebrities To Speaker Pelosi: Pass The Armenian Genocide Resolution

WASHINGTON–Kim Kardashian sent a “tweet” to 5.5 million of her fans, Thursday, urging them to call Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and urge her to schedule a vote on H.Res.252, the Armenian Genocide Resolution. This comes on the heels of Serj Tankian’s Facebook, Twitter and website postings on Wednesday calling on his fans to support the adoption of this human rights legislation, reported the Armenian National Committee of America.

“We applaud Kim Kardashian, Serj Tankian and anti-genocide activists from across the country for calling on Speaker Pelosi to schedule a vote on the Armenian Genocide Resolution. Americans of good conscience want to see an end to the cycle of genocide and to do that, we have to start by calling evil by its name,” said Aram Hamparian, Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America.

Earlier this week, Armenian National Committee of America Regional Chairs Aida Dimedjian and Stephen Mesrobian made a public appeal urging the Speaker to schedule a vote on the key human rights measure. “The spirit of the victims of Genocide and the voices of the survivors and their progeny are calling on the Speaker to bring this resolution for a vote before the 111th Congress adjourns in the next 10 days,” stated Dimedjian and Mesrobian. “Armenians and all the world deserve to know where each member of the U.S. House of Representatives stands on this vital expression of our common American conscience.”

House Resolution 252, introduced by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and spearheaded by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman (D-CA), Congressional Armenian Caucus Co-Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) along with broad bipartisan base of Congressional leaders from across the U.S. including incoming House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), incoming House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Foreign Affairs Committee Member Ed Royce (R-CA).

The House Foreign Affairs Committee adopted the measure in March, 2010. Similar legislation was adopted at the committee level in the U.S. House in 2000, 2005, and 2007.

The Armenian Genocide resolution “calls upon the President to ensure that the foreign policy of the United States reflects appropriate understanding and sensitivity concerning issues related to human rights, ethnic cleansing, and genocide documented in the United States record relating to the Armenian Genocide and the consequences of the failure to realize a just resolution.” It goes on to urge the President, in his “annual message commemorating the Armenian Genocide issued on or about April 24, to accurately characterize the systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1,500,000 Armenians as genocide and to recall the proud history of United States intervention in opposition to the Armenian Genocide.”

I’m in full support of the passage of this long overdue resolution. But, at this point, we should be very carefull what we are asking from her………If we have enough votes and If she is very confident and thinks that it will pass, then, she will schedule it……..The impact and the aftershock of the most recent election’s is more important to her than anything else…………Hankisd….

After Kardashian’s “famous” bed videos, what kind of diplomasy is this? Do we really want a woman known in the world as a “bed entertainment” to represent us? She does not act like an ARMENIAN GIRL all her life, released sex videos to promote her fame and now one of sudden started thinking of us? Thank you, but no, thank you.

Let us keep politics and our own personal morals seperate. You can rightfully find her past conduct disagreeable, but if she wishes to participate in furthering our cause, I think Armenians should be the last ones to deny her a voice.

I commend her with showing support.

Hye, Too, those committing Genocides, slaughtering, killings, rapings and worse must face justice.
Reparations due and owing the Armenians, an ancient and advanced peoples whose lands, properties, culture and wealths were all stolen by the Ottomans and their subsequent leaderships into today. The Genocides perpetrated against the Armenians began in the 19th century and still, Turk leaderships are in pursuit of the Armenians into today, ongoing.endlessly, now the 21st century…
The cycle of Genocides on our planet is further propogated when the guilty ‘get away with murders’ and more.
NATO members shall leave NATO to the Turks… These nations, like minded and dedicated to
end Genocides can form a new organization, where together civilized nations can join together progressing towards a planet of nations – all seeking to join together for a better world – civilized. Manooshag

i am in agreement with Gyumri.

i’d rather not have a porn-star representing the Armenian Diaspora.

all publicity is good publicity, eh? i think not. we’re few and far between… and it’s sad that this one (part-Armenian) person that just so happens to have access to a social megaphone is a porn-star.

1)Kardasian’s express her own believe and calls her own resources to encourage them to speak out as long as she speaks the truth and she has every right to do so, in my opinion.
2)Kardasian’s is what she is and I don’t think it’s no body’s business either mine also, as long as she doesn’t force anybody to except her own life style.
3)I personally thank to Kardasian’s effort to come forward and speak the truth and show her heart no matter what she does in her personal life.
4)Question: If your life was in jeopardy and she was the only witness to save you, would you rather except her witness statements or would you rather to go electric-chair?
      Best regards.

Well, there is Gyumri, there’s Aram and then there is me.
To me the other guys represent the medieval mindset of the Middle Eastern segment of our Armenian population.
For myself I am so proud, so very grateful and proud of Kim Kardashian. She, her mother and her siblings are all so very intelligent, perceptive and unabashedly devoted to their family life, their Armenian-American legacy and identity like no other celebrity before them.
They are all so very well gifted, such exemplary representatives of our Armenian American community. They all are so aware that their intelligence is all due to their enduring such impossible odds, such relentless persecution not experienced by any other nation in the world under the yoke of Islamic overlords for thirteen hundred years, longer than the history of any other nation in the world. Armenians are the Hittites who endured oblivion and obliteration from way back ten thousand years ago to this day.
I’d like to thank them all and one by one for doing what no Armenian American celebrity has done before them.

To Gyumri and Aram: You and the other haters call her a whore and a porn star just because of that sex tape but that has nothing to do with our Cause. You’re worried that she makes us look bad? Look at her Twitter page. Just on that page, her fans are more than the entire population of Armenia and she told them all to call Speaker Nancy Pelosi about the genocide resolution. If they’re her “fans”, that means they like her.

Let’s not forget that she’s an Armenian AMERICAN. You don’t have to like her but a lot of Americans like her type of women and she’s able to appeal to them to help the Armenian Cause. So I think the fact that she’s contributing to our cause must be appreciated whether you like her or not.

It’s the Armenian criminals that do the most damage to our image because the Americans hate them for what they do (whereas Kardashian and SOAD are liked by the Americans, so they make us look better).

My friends. Concerning Kim Kardashian, she could play it safe and not get involved in politics if she wishes to do so but she has decided to use her influence to help out. Aram, there is no part Armenian, our community welcomes everyone who feels Armenian.Lets not go there.
PLease people lets not all pretend to be angels. Good for Kim and her sisters ! Pop culture is a powerful thing !

We are one of the oldest Christian people on earth. Have we forgotten the words of our Lord and Savior about judging others? She is a sister and as far as I’m concerned she is doing the calling of her people. Shame on those who think they are better Armenians…
