TBILISI (News.am)–The ministers of transport for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will meet Tuesday in Tbilisi for talks on the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
The meeting, which will last until Wednesday, will also include on its agenda a discussion about additional financing for the Georgian section of the railway. Azerbaijan has signaled it is ready to invest $50 million in the project.
The project also includes the construction of the 98 km-long Kars-Akhalkalaki railway, which passes through 68 km of Turkish territory and 30 km of Georgian territory.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which bypasses Armenia, is expected to begin operation in 2013.
