GLENDALE, CA – The United Armenian Fund announced on Tuesday that it has received a generous contribution of $10.5 million from The Lincy Foundation.
A major portion of this grant will be used by the UAF to renovate and reconstruct six schools in Northern Armenia, a region devastated by a powerful earthquake in December 1988.
The Lincy Foundation had initiated this project in June 2010 and has now turned to the UAF to complete the construction of these schools, by strictly following the highest standards of quality, safety, and financial responsibility.
The balance of the funds contributed by The Lincy Foundation will be used by the UAF to continue its long-standing humanitarian mission of acquiring, transporting, and distributing much needed assistance to the needy people of Armenia and Artsakh.
The Lincy Foundation has provided major financial support for such humanitarian efforts ever since UAF’s inception in 1989. In the intervening years, the UAF has sent $612 million of relief supplies to Armenia and Artsakh on board 158 airlifts and 1,852 sea containers.
The United Armenian Fund is the collective effort of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy, Armenian General Benevolent Union, Armenian Missionary Association of America, Armenian Relief Society, Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, The Lincy Foundation, and Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America.
