GLENDALE—United States District Attorney, Andre Birotte Jr. was honored by the Armenian Bar Association, for his “outstanding leadership and commitment to justice, public service, and the legal profession.”
The ceremony took place at Phoenicia Restaurant, where well recognized lawyers, judges, and highly ranked police officials, were awaiting for the guest of honor. Hovanes Margarian and Master of Ceremonies and Vice Chair of the Armenian Bar Association, Garo Ghazarian welcomed and thanked everybody for attending.
Ghazarian’s gratitude for the Assistant Attorney’s, State Supreme Court Judge’s, as well as Police Chief’s and Special Agent’s, was greatly appreciated for he mentioned every notable individual in the room. He then brought to stage John Lulejian, Assistant United States Attorney to Birotte Jr. and also the Vice President of the Harvey Mudd College Alumni Association Board of Governors.
John repeatedly announced his appreciation for Birotte and all of his work throughout his career. “We are very fortunate to have a District Attorney like Andre who fosters better communication with law enforcements, as well as being heavily involved in his community,” said John. “You have to work hard. There are no short cuts, no other ways around it,” continued John, “and it is important to have individuals who give back to the community through public service; and Andre is a person who excels in this.” With more praising comments about Andre, Lulejian wrapped up his statement, by mentioning his similarities with Andre. “Andre and I were both 17 when we moved to America, and it is an amazing feeling to stand up and say: I represent the United States of America. It is an accurate example of what we can achieve with the American Dream,” concluded John.
With those parting words, John happily called upon the righteous and principled man of the night, Andre Birotte Jr.
The audience rose to their feet with a roaring applause for Birotte as he took the stage. Once all was settled, Andre began his statement by thanking several individuals, including judges and attorneys who he personally had worked with him, for they helped him become the man he is today. “It is important to work with our community,” said Andre, “coming from Haiti, I would always remember the saying associated with their flag, ‘With unity we built strength,’ and this is a statement that lives with me today, and will continue to.” Andre elaborated upon his previous statement by explaining how, “That saying has been a major guideline in my life, and a major guideline we work by.” Andre then concluded his speech with the following thought: “My number one priority is to work together. It is to engage myself not only at the federal level, but also in state and local areas. I will serve to protect my community in all possible ways. You should always know you have a partner; I am always here for you!”
With strong, remarkable thoughts, the crowd was rest assured that their District Attorney was not only proud of his community and the people in it, but also the unity and hospitality they display.
The last speaker of the night was Chairman of the Armenian Bar Association, Edvin Minassian. Minassian couldn’t thank each individual enough for attending the ceremony, especially to the distinguished guests, who help keep our district safe and united. Edvin also called Birotte back on stage, in order to award him with a plaque of distinguished honor. As the room stood with applause and excitement, Andre happily received the award and thanked everybody once again.
