ANCG-PAC Urges Citizens to Vote ‘YES’ On Measure S

GLENDALE—The Armenian National Committee of Glendale – Political Action Committee announced its formal endorsement of Measure S on Glendale Municipal Election’s April 5 ballot. By endorsing this measure, ANCG-PAC joins a growing coalition of organizations, teachers, elected officials and community leaders working to secure voter approval of the education bond in April.
“ANCG PAC is pleased to join with other community organizations and the broad-based coalition supporting this very important measure that will provide funding to our schools, ensuring that they remain in the top tier of California schools.” said ANCG-PAC Co-Chair, Leonard Manoukian.
A YES vote on Measure S will provide local funding to maintain quality education at Glendale and Crescenta Valley schools during a time of unprecedented budget cuts at the state and federal level. Measure S will allow the school district to keep classroom computers and technology up-to-date, provide facilities and equipment for career and technical education as well as modern science labs, improve school access for students with disabilities, upgrade campus security and safety, improve energy efficiency to reduce utility costs and qualify for green incentive funding. Importantly, Measure S offers the potential to free up millions in local funding to protect core academic programs, retain qualified teachers and maintain smaller class sizes. Best of all, Measure S will not increase tax rates. It will simply extend the rate Glendale property owners have already been paying.
“I applaud the ANC-G PAC’s endorsement of the ‘Yes on S’ Campaign. Having the support of an organization with the influence of the ANC, demonstrates the far reaching importance of this Measure. After all, the future of our community lies with the education of our children. I encourage everyone within our community to join the ANC and vote ‘Yes on Measure S,’ said Kathy Thorossian, Assistant Superintendent, GUSD.
The position supporting Measure S comes a week after the committee announced that it will not make any endorsements of candidates seeking office for Glendale City Council, Glendale Unified School District, Board of Education and Glendale Community College, Board of Trustees.
