PASADENA—The Armenian National Committee of America of Pasadena Chapter announced this week that it has endorsed Jill Fosselman in the City Council race, Fourth Council District, and Tom Selinske for the Citywide school board seat.  The election is slated for April 19.

The ANCA of Pasadena endorsed Fosselman because of her strong talents on issues related to public finance, smart growth, preservation and her commitment to addressing the educational challenges facing all schoolchildren in the City of Pasadena.  Fosselman has made a strong commitment to working closely with the Armenian American community to further improve the quality of life for all the residents in the City of Pasadena.

“Jill Fosselman is smart, capable and passionate and we are proud to endorse her,” remarked ANCA of Pasadena chairman Shahe Bezdjian. She clearly cares deeply about the City of Pasadena and the residents of the Fourth Council District.  The ANCA of Pasadena encourages every registered Armenian American voter in the Fourth District to vote for Jill Fosselman on April 19, 2011,” Bezdjian added.

She has also been an active volunteer with the local chapter of the American Red Cross and has worked to safeguard the welfare of children by supporting the efforts of local non-profit organizations.  Fosselman currently serves as Mayor Bogaard’s appointee to the City of Pasadena’s General Plan Update Advisory Committee for the Land Use and Mobility Elements.

Many Armenian American registered voters and ANCA supporters live in Pasadena’s Fourth Council District. The Fourth District is bounded by Altadena, Washington, Martelo, Casa Grande, Mountain, Palo Verde, the 210 Freeway, Oak, Colorado, San Gabriel, Lombardy, Sunnyslope, Grayburn, Del Mar, Green, Colorado, Frontage, Foothill, Michillinda, Shaw Ranch, Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre Villa, Fairpoint, Villa Knolls, New York, and Eaton Canyon.

Fosselman is squaring off against Gene Masuda in the April 19, 2011 runoff to represent the residents of the Fourth Council District. On March 8, 2011, the candidates were the top two vote getters, leading to the upcoming runoff election.
