Dink’s Son Says Erdogan Described his Deputy as a ‘Suspect’ in Dink Murder

ANKARA (Hürriyet Daily News)—Turkey’s prime minister has said he never depicted his deputy, Cemil Çiçek, as a “suspect” in Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink’s murder during a conversation with Dink’s son in 2007.

The claim was made Arat Dink in a column for the liberal daily Taraf on Friday. “We asked Prime Minister [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan] during his visit to our house to express his condolences whether we could mention about former Justice Minister C.Ç. [Cemil Çiçek] as a ‘murderer’” in pointing to Hrant Dink as a target, Arat Dink wrote in his piece.

“The prime minister rightly guided us by saying, ‘Don’t call him a murderer, call him a suspect.’”

Erdoğan denied the conversation with Arat Dink in a speech he made in Kars on the Armenian border.

“If this boy said so, then I deplore him. But I condemn this newspaper for this story,” he said during an election campaign. “I have never used such an expression for my deputy prime minister.”

A lawyer for the Dink family refused to make comments on Erdoğan’s denial on Arat Dink’s claims when approached by the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review.

Erdoğan criticized the newspaper for being a part of a mindset advocating for the Armenian diaspora while Turkey was awaiting Armenia’s step for reconciliation. “We have extended our hand to Armenia for peace. Now it’s Armenia’s turn,” he said.

It is so obvious how Erdogan’s phony, media oriented claims of “extending his

hand to Armenia for peace” is , when the latter ordered the demolition of

the Turkish/Armenian monument in Kars! Erdogan should prove to the press,

that former Justice Minister Cemil Cicek isn’t even a suspect, in order to waive

him as a murderer!!!! Well somebody ordered the political assassination of Hrant

Dink. Unless Erdogan doesn’t reveal the real murderer’s name, the latter turns to

be a potential suspect of the political assassination of one of the Bravest Modern

Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, Cause and Great Dream!!!!

What kind of Justice is left there in “Modern Turkey”, when police chief(ves) , Mayors, Governors and even

Justice Ministers are suspects or even implied in the political asssassination of our Modern Hero, Hrant

Dink? Aren’t 4 years and 4 months enough to grant justice to the Dink family? Or should they wait another

96 years like the heirs of the 1.5 Million Genocide Victims???

We Armenians all over the world are ready to become martyrs for our cause ! No power in the world, no empire in the world is everlasting, HOWEVER, we, a small bunch of people named Armenians, have lasted for thousands of years. We have seen empires forming and getting destroyed, we have seen major powers rulling and being dissolved, and let me ask any reader reading my comment, who shall last more? Turkey or Us?

It is a puerile effort to waste energy in analysing the turk’s hierarchy of political leaders. They are Armenia’s enemies. What does one expect from enemies? Once the platitudinal niceties and diplomatic fawning is set aside, we awaken to the stark reality that a large mortal enemy happens to be our next door neighbors.
