YEREVAN—Delegates, leaders and guests from around the world gathered at the Armenian government’s auditorium for the kick off of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s 31st World Congress, which is the party’s highest decision-making assembly.
During the opening session of the World Congress, which was attended by representatives of different political parties and government officials, ARF Bureau chairman Hrant Markarian made a presentation, in which he assessed the state of the Republic and the party.
In highlighting important events of the past three years, which was the last time the World Congress was held, Markarian pointed to the inadequacies of the Armenian government in dealing with such significant issues as the Armenia-Turkey protocols, the global economic downturn and the general socio-economic situation in Armenia.
His message of “the ARF is the party of the future,” was also highlighted by Markarian’s discussion of the ARF’s approach to fundamental issues in Armenia and his explanation that the ARF, through working with the people will create an atmosphere whereby the leadership of the country will be of the people.
Markarian said that the party’s declaration for the imperative for regime change in Armenia, and hinges on the active involvement of all facets of Armenian life and the people.
Asbarez will have more coverage of the opening ceremony of the World Congress next week.

This kind of ARF-promoting articles show the huge distance in several issues between the Diaspora and Armenia. If they were elections today, the ARF would not get more than 5% of the votes. This comes because they supported Kocharyan/Sargsyan presidencies and rigged elections in Armenia. Being financed by the Diaspora they exist but do nothing for the improvement of the way of live of Armenian people. Today Armenia has – apart from the war period in the 90s – the biggest socio-economic and political crisis since its independence. And the Dashnaks are highly responsible for this.
Here we have another Hyrenik abandoner know it all who knows whats best for Armenia, and all the woes of Armenia must be due to the ARF. I see that Stalin is alive and well in some of your minds in the year 2011. Has it ever occurred to you people that if the ARF had the power in Armenia from day one, we would not be in this mess today? The only Hyes opposed to the ARF are the uneducated ones, and based on your comment you fall in this category.
