GLENDALE—California State Assembly Member Katcho Achadjian (AD-33-R-San Luis Obsipo) will be joining the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region for its second “Meet & Greet Series” event on Sunday, July 17 at 4 p.m. The event will be hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Aram and Aida Shorvoghlian in Glendale.
Achadjian is the only currently serving Armenian American member of the California State Assembly. He is a freshman, Republican member of the State Legislature and was a key leader in the 2011 California State Capitol Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in Sacramento.
The ANCA-WR developed this event series to provide a forum for prominent elected officials and community leaders to meet with the Armenian American community in a more casual, accessible environment. The events are also designed to promote networking among the event participants. Following the formal program guests are welcome to mingle with the featured guests, ANCA-WR leadership and fellow professionals and attendees.
“We are so happy to have Assembly Member Achadjian join us as the featured guest for our upcoming Meet and Greet Series event,” noted Pattyl Aposhian-Kasparian, a member of the ANCA-WR Board of Directors. “We are also proud to have young professionals and supporters like the Shorvoghlian’s host this event for the community.”
This past April, Achadjian partnered with veteran Assembly Member Anthony Portantino (AD-44-D-Pasadena) in coordinating the California State Capitol Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. He is also the principal co-author of AB 173, authored by Assembly Member Mike Gatto, which extends the statute of limitations for survivors of the Armenian Genocide to pursue claims against insurance companies that have wrongfully withheld assets of the Genocide’s victims.
Those wishing to attend this event can RSVP by visiting ItsMySeat.com.
The requested donation amount for the Sunday event is $45 per person if reservations are made by July 11. After July 11th the requested donation is $50 per person. A special donation rate of $30 for students is also available.
Proceeds will go toward the ANCA-WR and advancing issues of importance to the Armenian American community.
The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
