YEREVAN (ArmRadio)—“We are concerned about the situation at the line of contact [the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic-Azerbaijan border],” said Adam Kobieracki, Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, in an interview with Moskovskiye Novosti, commenting on the current developments in the Karabakh conflict resolution process.
“Only this year there have been more than 20 fatal incidents. The reports on civilian casualties are particularly worrisome,” he said.
“During his visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan the OSCE Chairman-in-Office called on the parties to withdraw snipers from the line of contact. I regret that the parties have failed to implement the Sochi agreement on investigating the accidents along the line of contact,” he said.
“I believe it is very important to keep pressure on both sides and therefore welcome the personal participation of the Russian President in promoting the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. I think there is a possibility to reach a compromise solution within the framework of the current format of negotiations – the OSCE Minsk Group,” added Kobieracki.
