Ankara Warns Paris Over Genocide Denial Criminalization Bill

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu

ANKARA—The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly warned France after a bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide passed a key committee in the French National Assembly last week.

“At a moment when Turkey and France have entered into a process in which they could increase their cooperation at bilateral and international level, we hope no irreversable steps will be taken,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement over the weekend.

“The French administration is well aware of how sensitive this issue is to us,” said the Foreign Ministry statement. The statement also called on France to contribute to the solution of this problem between Turkey and France through dialogue.

The Genocide matter is very sensitive to the world and to the Armenians. Who cares what Turkey is sensitive to? Enough of this Turkish threats. Turkey is guilty of the Armenian Genocide and must be put on trial for her crimes against humanity.
