Sarkisian Abruptly Cancels Press Meeting

Late Sunday evening, officials at Horizon television received a call from Armenian Consulate staff informing them that a scheduled press meeting with President Sarkisian on Monday was canceled. Moments later, another phone call confirmed that, in fact, a briefing with the press would take place but instead of the president, his assistant, Vigen Sargsyan would address reporters’ questions.

A Gala for the Protocols

The champagne will flow and the caviar will be served this Sunday at a gala banquet honoring President Serzh Sarkisian at the Beverly Hills Hilton as part of his Diaspora tour to discuss—or force down our throats—the protocols for the establishment and development of relations with Turkey.

Protocols Will be Signed on Kars Treaty Anniversary

Neither the Turkish nor the Armenian foreign ministries refuted reports by the Milliyet newspaper that the dangerous Turkey-Armenia protocols are scheduled to be signed on October 13. That day is not merely the day before the scheduled Armenia-Turkey European qualifier soccer match, it also marks the 88th anniversary of signing of the Kars treaty, on which the recognition of the current boundaries provision of the protocols is based.
