Nalbandian Further Alienates

Armenia’s Foreign Minister, Eduard Nalabandian, chose a joint press briefing with his Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt to fire back at calls for his resignation. Last week the Armenian Revolutionary Federation called for Nalbandian to step down, saying “Armenia’s foreign policy has deviated from the main provisions of the national security strategy.”

Bryza Says ‘Territories’ will be Returned, New ‘Status’ for Karabakh

The US Co-chair of the OSCE Minks Group, Matthew Bryza, announced Monday that the liberated territories surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will be turned over to Azerbaijan with plans to resettle those areas with so-called Azeri refugees and that Karabakh will be granted a new status, the nature of which is the subject of negotiations.

Nalbandian Shuts Out the Press

Requests to interview Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian while he was in Washington were denied. This is most troubling, especially at a time when flow of information from official Yerevan is so little, that we, in the business, are forced to decipher through propaganda-laced news reports from Turkey and Azerbaijan to make sense of this so-called “roadmap” to normalization of ties between Turkey and Armenia.
