Gyumri Artist Takes on The United Kingdom

The British Ambassador to Armenia, Charles Londsdale, on October 22, hosted a reception for Armenian artist Arshak Sarkissian. The event, marked Sarkissian’s forthcoming departure for London, where he will attend the opening of an exhibition of his recent works. Present at the Ambassador’s reception were family and friends of Sarkissian, local artists and art patrons, as well as representatives of museums, and the Ministry of Culture.

Stephanie’s Art Gallery to Exhibit Four Renowned Artists

Jean Carzou, Edgar Chahine, Jean Jansem, and Leon Tutundjian are household names in the European and Armenian art worlds. On Friday, November 13, at a special reception at Stephanie’s Art Gallery in La Canada, CA which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, their legendary artworks – oil paintings, watercolors and drawings – will be on display. The exhibition will continue on Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15.

Dr. Garo Tertzakian Receives Armenian Presidential Medal of Honor

During a recent visit to Armenia , Dr. Garo Tertzakian was awarded the “Mkhitar Heratsi” Medal of Honor by President Serzh Sarkisian. The medal was presented to Dr. Tertzakian by Dr. Haroutioun Koushkyan, Minister of Health of Armenia, on behalf of the president, during a formal ceremony held at the ministry of health on September 30, 2009.

Charles S. Poochigian Sworn in as Justice of California Court of Appeal

Former California State Senator Charles Suren Poochigian was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve as an Associate Justice for the California Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District. The Fifth Appellate District Court is located in Fresno, California, with a jurisdiction that includes the following nine central California Counties: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare and Tuolumne.

Dr. Vartan Gregorian to Meet Southern California Students

Dr. Vartan Gregorian, president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York President will be honored as “2009 APS Professional of the Year” by the Armenian Professional Society of Los Angeles at its annual banquet, to be held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel on Saturday, November 7, 2009. This historic event marks 51 years of the organization’s establishment in 1958.
