In April, 2009 the US Ambassador to Turkey said that Turkey’s ultra-nationalist opposition leader wanted President Obama to recognize the Armenian Genocide and end the annual speculation game that occurs every April in Turkey and the US, according to a confidential cable publicized by WikiLeaks.

The ongoing dance between President Serzh Sarkisian and Armenian National Congress leader Levon Ter-Petrosian continued Thursday as the latter claimed victory to his supporters by saying that recent overtures by the president have enhanced the climate for dialogue.

The U.S. Export-Import Bank Wednesday voted to approve a controversial deal to finance Azerbaijan’s purchase of an advanced satellite just weeks after Azerbaijan threatened to shoot down a civilian airliner.
