What the 1918 Independence represents is more than just our nation’s resilience to, in the face of Genocide, liberate the Armenian people after centuries of imperial rule. The Independent Republic of 1918 is also the reason why there is a Republic of Armenia today for if it were not for the heroic determination of Armenians 93 years ago, Armenia could have been swallowed by oppressive forces and could have ceased to exist.

Just about everyone complains about paying “too much taxes” without thinking much about what they’re really saying. Why is it too much? Compared to what? Does the complainer know the history? Do we believe in the social contract between state and citizen?

With the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide coming up in the year 2015, I thought it would be appropriate for all Armenian organizations and church groups to unite in getting the US Postal Service to issue a US commemorative stamp on the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923.
