Leaders of the Pasadena Armenian National Committee took California State Assemblymember Anthony Portantino (D-44) on a tour of Armenian American businesses in the City of Pasadena on December 11, 2009 to help the Assemblymember better understand the challenges facing Armenian American business owners in this challenging economy and what actions, if any, the State can take to improve the economy.

The Armenian Relief Society of the Western US has issued an appeal to the community this holiday season, urging Armenian-Americans to participate in a charity drive to help the less fortunate.

“If Nagorno-Karabakh declares independence, then Russia must recognize that,” a leading member of the Russian Parliament said on Friday, speaking at the European and Asian Media Forum in Moscow.

The U.S. House and Senate Wednesday agreed upon a far-reaching Fiscal Year 2010 (FY10) spending measure that includes a $41 economic aid package for Armenia, $8 million for “programs and activities” in Nagorno Karabagh, and parity in Foreign Military Financing for Armenia and Azerbaijan, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

Finishing up her senior year at Westside High School in Houston Texas, Tamar Abrilian is on her way to creating a bright future for herself, with the Armenian community deeply vested in it. Tamar recently became the 1st place scholarship winner of the Armenian Youth Federation’s Nanor Krikorian Scholarship, taking home $1,000 to use toward her higher education goals.
