Leveraging Turkey-Armenia Protocols, Erdogan Presses Advantage During DC Visit

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, having secured at least temporarily, the silence of yet another Administration on the Armenian Genocide, has used his U.S. visit to further press Turkey’s advantage–dramatically escalating his genocide denial rhetoric, reinforcing Turkey’s “Protocols” preconditions for lifting its blockade of Armenia, and attempting to use Ankara’s new found leverage in the Nagorno Karabakh peace process to deliver a pro-Azerbaijani settlement of this conflict, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

‘Ararat 7’ Climbs Mount Ararat

A group of Homenetmen Ararat members and parents got together in May and formed a hiking team to climb Mount Ararat. The team was named “Ararat 7″ for the number of people on the team. It took four months to make the travel arrangements, hire a guide, and train physically for the climb. The team flew to Yerevan and drove through Georgia to get to the City of Dogubeyazit in Turkey near the slope of Mount Ararat.

Athletic Prowess Tested at 36th Annual AYF Olympics

Nearly 150 members from the Armenian Youth Federation’s Western Region turned-out on Thanksgiving weekend to compete in the AYF’s 36th annual Olympic Games, hosted by the AYF’s Glendale ‘Roupen’ chapter, at the majestic seaside Paradise Point Resort in San Diego.

Demonstrators Remind Obama of Broken Promises to Recognize Genocide

On Wednesday May 27, hundreds gathered around the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills, California to remind the President of his broken promise as he hosted a Democratic Party fundraiser. Joining them were hundreds of other activists demonstrating for gay rights and an end to the war in Iraq and torture.
