ARS Urges Action to Assist Armenians in Syria

Young Syrian-Armenian volunteers gather at community center

GLENDALE—Amid the conflict and civil strife that continues to plague Syria and its residents, the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Western USA calls upon community members from near and far to join its efforts in support and camaraderie of Armenians in Syria, who are painstakingly affected by the ongoing turmoil in the country.

At this crucial time, the ARS Western Region has committed to a full force humanitarian response effort to raise funds in aid of Armenians in Syria. Support in this effort knows no bounds and a donation in any amount to the “Fund for Assistance to Syrian Armenian Schools” will undeniably demonstrate a united undertaking to fulfill our moral duty in coming to the aid of fellow Armenians in distress.

Support the Armenian community in Syria by donating by credit card or PayPal at, through a local chapter, or sending your check to ARS of Western USA, Regional Executive, 517 W. Glenoaks Blvd., Glendale, CA 91202. The Regional Headquarters can be contacted at (818) 500-1343 for any additional information.

The ARS of Western USA is confident that communities will immediately respond to our call to action.

At the recent ARS-USA Western Regional Convention, delegates and chapters members rose to their feet to spontaneously donate to the organization’s assistance fund for Syria, in addition to the Western Region’s allocated budget for that effort. This is something that tugs at all our hearts and cannot be ignored. As a humanitarian crisis, it not only affects Syrian Armenians basic daily needs, but their physical and psychological safety. Please help in any way you can.

The Russians are being very stupid in not supporting the Assad Regime more strongly .They will loose their strategic base in Tarsus. Assad should offer a large piece of land in Northern Syria for a huge Russian military bases for Russian air, land, sea and space forces. That will encourage the Russians to intervene and prevent a Turkish invasion. Another option would be the creation of a Alawite/Christian Republic based in Aleppo and the surrounding territories. A smaller land mass would be more easier to defend and protecting the borders from terrorist penetration would also be easier. Syria’s borders are too open and allow these Al-Quaida/Muslim Brotherhood terrorists to penetrate. See what the Muslim Brotherhood is doing in Egypt attacking Christian neighborhoods. This will happen in Syria.
