YEREVAN—The Armenian national soccer team leaped to a record-breaking 30th place in FIFA’s latest World Rankings released on Thursday.
Soccer’s international governing body, FIFA, releases world rankings of all participating national teams every month. Armenia’s previous highest position was 34th, after an almost successful World Cup qualifying campaign.
The latest ranking places Armenia on par with top teams, the World Cup itself consisting of 32 teams overall.
Armenia’s national team is still seeking a coach after Vardan Minasyan’s resignation following four years of relative success in improving the national squad.
Armenia’s next game is a friendly match against Russia on March 5 in Krasnodar, Russia.
Good news. It’s all due to hard work of the team. Looks like they’re on the right path. It can become really strong, like Ararat in 1973.
Bravo
