ENCINO–During a celebration banquet marking the 35th anniversary of the Holy Martyr’s Ferrahian Armenian school last Saturday at Avetissian Hall–$120,000 was raised for the school’s scholarship fund–with more than 500 community members–school supporters and parents in attendance.
The banquet was held under the auspices of Western Prelate His Grace Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian–who was joined at the event by members of the Prelacy Executive Council–Board of Regents of Prelacy Armenian Schools–Armenian Revolutionary Federation San Fernando Valley Rosdom Chapter representatives–as well as leaders of community organizations.
Also in attendance was Kapriel Injejikian–the school’s founding principal.
The program was convened by Master of Ceremonies and Ferrahian Finance Committee member Peglar Pilavjian–who explained that the purpose of the banquet was two fold: celebration of the school’s 35th anniversary and raising much-needed funds for the school’s scholarship which is awarded to 120 to 140 students.
Pilavjian invited school principal Dr. Marzbed Margossian–who outlined some of the activities of the school–as well as recounted the accomplishmen’s of the school.
Margossian added that throughout the years–Ferrahian has produced some of the more active members of the community–who have also excelled in their profession. He cited five of 19 attorneys who were recently allowed to argue cases in the California State Supreme Court–saying that those five were Ferrahian alumni. They are–Armen Baghdassarian–Steve Dadaian–Nigol Manoukian and Chris Parnagian.
Following Margossian’s commen’s–Finance Committee chairwoman Lena Tavitian presented a brief overview of the school’s history and invited the first graduates of Ferrahian to the stage. These alumni continue to remain active in the school–commented Tavitian.
Prior to congratulatory remarks from alumni–friends–teachers and community leaders–Bishop Mardirossian addressed the gathering–expressing his commendation to the school.
The evening’s entertainment was provided by Vatche and his band.
