Glendale News-Press Endorses Vartan Gharpetian

Vartan Gharpetian

GLENDALE—The Glendale New-Press on Friday endorsed Vartan Gharpetian for the upcoming June 3 election for Glendale City Council for a seat being vacated by Frank Quintero.

“Gharpetian’s ideas appear better formed and complete than his rivals’. In particular, we liked his idea, presented to us during the endorsement interviews, of putting a renewed focus on marketing Glendale to large employers, be they companies, nonprofits or educational institutions. In doing so, he argued, Glendale can become as well-known, or better known, than neighboring Burbank and Pasadena, cities with smaller populations but outsized name recognition,” said the News-Press in its endorsement editorial.

“…We believe Gharpetian’s experience, knowledge of the city, and passion to make Glendale a better place will move the city forward and through its current issues,” said the editorial. “he Glendale News-Press endorses Vartan Gharpetian for City Council.”

Gharpetian was endorsed by the Armenian National Committee of America-Glendale, whose chairman, Berdj Karapetian said in March “Vartan Gharpetian’s stance on issues of concern to Glendale residents, excellent record of community service, and leadership skills convinced us that he is the better choice.”

The ANCA-Glendale based its decision after evaluating the candidates’ responses to the ANCA-Glendale questionnaire and assessing the candidates’ record on issues of concern to the Armenian and non-Armenian residents of the City.

The Glendale City Council elections will be held June 3, the same day as the California Primary Elections. Glendale residents are urged to vote on June 3.
