ARF Western Region Convention issues announcements

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western USA held its biennial Regional Convention over two weekends–June 12 to 15, and June 21 to 22–at the Montebello Armenian Center.

Under the internal organizational agenda item, the Convention first heard the outgoing Central Committee’s report and financial briefing and assessed the organization’s activities over the past two years. The convention then, under the same agenda item, discussed suggestions for the strengthening of the organization and realizing its full potential and adopted the decisions. A special emphasis and discussion was placed on the invigorating the ARF’s youth and student bodies.

The Convention also discussed in depth the challenges facing the Armenian communities of Western Region and the Armenian-American community in general, as well as the national responsibilities of the region, stressing the imperative for bringing together all forces in the community for the realization of the aspirations of the Armenian Nation.

The challenge of guaranteeing the security of Armenia and Artsakh, the strengthening of Armenia’s statehood, improving the socio-economic condition of the people of Armenia, advancing the pursuit of the Armenian Cause, the effective pursuit of our just demands in the political and legal circles on the eve of the Armenian Genocide centennial, the defense of the rights of the Armenian population in Javakhk and the crisis-ridden communities of the Diaspora, especially our Armenian compatriots in Syria and Iraq require that the strong Armenian-American community of the Western US to expand all its resources and strengthen the internal collaboration and seek new avenues to address these issues.

The Convention made it the organization’s priority to effectively confront and resolve the aforementioned challenges.

At the conclusion of the Convention, under the last agenda item, a new Central Committee was elected to the lead the party’s activities for the next two years.
