Two Chinese Citizens Charged with Human Trafficking in Armenia

Two men have been arrested for trafficking Chinese women to Armenia

YEREVAN—The Armenian government has opened a criminal case against two Chinese citizens charged with involvement in human trafficking in Armenia.

According to investigators, in October 2014, two Chinese citizens, under the pretext of having high-paid jobs as masseuses in Armenia and Georgia, smuggled four female citizens from China to Yerevan for their sexual exploitation. The women were kept in a hotel complex in Yerevan and sexually exploited until Dec. 9.

A criminal case was opened on Wednesday under the Armenian Criminal Code. The two Chinese men were detained on the same day.
